Total scores from 1st and 2nd segments will be converted to be upon 90 pts.
3) CD Sales Vote: % of CD sales vote will be converted to be upon 10 pts.
CD Sales Vote
Every CD bought by any supporter or audience will give him/her a chance to cast a vote for any of the 12 finalists.
Votes can only be cast with 1 CD bought.
Total votes for each finalist will be counted after the cut-off voting time.
Percentage of votes of each finalist will be converted into 10% of his/her Final score.
The finalist with the highest vote will win "The Most Popular Award" that comes with a XYZ plaque and $50 worth of Heartland Mall Shopping Voucher.
Sales proceeds from the voting will be channeled into the Event Funds of Xtreme Youth Zone Inc. to benefit more youths of our community in future events and activities.

As a custom to Kovan Superstar singing competition yearly, finalists selected will go through a series of activities to further expose them to various aspects of music production.

2) Kovan Superstar 2010 Photoshoot Date & Time: 4 July 2010, Sun (3 - 6 pm) Venue: Studiospace Address: 255B Geylang Road S(389312) (4th Floor, Door besides M5 Collection)
The studio is along Geylang road towards city direction between Geylang Lor 11 and Lor 13. Please meet at the coffee shop at 2.50 pm beside the studio first.
Dress Code: Normal Competition Outfit ( not too bright colours) Note: 1) Ladies, please come with own make-up and hairstyling. 2) Gentlemen, please come with own hairstyling. Some make-up can be put on as deemed fit. 3) Only simple make-up touching up will be available on shooting day. 4) Please be punctual as we will be taking a group shot first. 5) Please prepare a simple introduction of yourself to be filmed on the photoshoot day. Introduction may be played during the finals. 6) Introduction can be something like: " Hi everyone, my name is XXX, I'm 20 (eg.) this year...curently doing XXXX.... I like music because XXXX... Joining this competition allows me to XXXXX. Really happy to be in the finals and i'll show my very best.. Do give me your support..." This is only an example. U can be creative in your own intro. Think about it.

Competition Format 1. Each contestant will present a full song of their choice. 2. Points will be given by the judges after the song 3. Top 6 scoring contestants will gain direct entry into the Finals (21 Aug) 4. Bottom 6 scoring contestants will be eliminated. 5. The middle 12 scoring contestants will have to go through a PK process through which we will select the remaining 6 finalists.
PK Format 1. Our representative will draw lots and select the 1st contestant and he/she will then draw his/her opponent. 2. After which they will compete and the winner will automatically advance to the finals. 3. This will repeat itself till all the 6 remaining finalists are selected. 4. Song selected for PK can be any part of a song NOT more than 2 mins.
Judging Criteria 1. Singing Techniques (pitching, articulation, song presentation) 2. “Star” Qualities (voice quality, stage presence, entertainment value, dressing)

Please prepare 2 MMOs: 1st song: The full song to be performed 2nd song: 2 min MMO to be used for the PK should it be required (Please note that the 2 mins can be any part of the song and the time limit must be strictly adhered to. Can be shorter but not longer)
Deadline for submission of BOTH MMO: 6th June 2010 IMPT: NO late submissions or changing of songs will be entertained after the deadline and the contestants will be considered to have given up their place in the competition. This is to facilitate our administrative work and also to be fair to all contestants. Also, it is your own responsibility to source for MMOs and do note that poor quality MMOs may be penalized by the judges at their discretion.

Kovan Superstar 2010 Auditions ended successfully with the participation of 152 contestants over the 4 saturdays of April 2010. Out of the 152 contestants, 23 of them gained immediate entry into our Quarter-finals with a score of 24 and above out of 30. And out of the 23, 4 of the contestants outshone the others as the top 4 contestants in our audition rounds.

Preparations for Quarter-finals 1. Prepare and practice 1 English or Chinese song for presentation.
2. Get ready the Music-Minus-One (MMO)or the Karaoke CD or VCD of your song.
3. Label your CD (Click here for CD label)if you are submitting your CD personally to us.
4. Inform us your choice of song and submit your MMO track or Karaoke CD/VCD/DVD to us by 16 May 2010.
5. For MMO tracks, it should be in wmv, wav or mp3 format.
6. If you need any adjustment of keys of the song, your MMO should be submitted in wav format with the adjustment needed indicated on the CD label.
7. Submission of MMO track can be done through email to pcs.xyz.inc@gmail.com with name, group and contestant no., song, original artiste and any remarks written in the email.
8. Submission of MMO track burnt in CD and Karaoke CD/VCD/DVD can be done personally by at our XYZ Inc. Office (Container beside Paya Lebar Kovan CC) or at Heartland Mall Customer Service counter level 3 with the CD label attached.
*Note: MMO or CD quality is important and will affect your performance. Do make sure that the MMO track or CD provided is of clear sound quality.
Competition Format
1. Perform a song(Eng/Chi) with music accompaniment by either MMO, Karaoke CD or guitar. (*Guitar should be self-provided.)
2. Song should be presented from the begining till the judges ring the bell.
3. 24 Semi-finalists will be selected.
4. Judges will flash Green or Orange Card after every performance. If a contestant managed to get all green cards from the 3 judges, he/she will be confirmed a place in our semi-finals. Or else, he/she will wait for the results after the judge's final review.
4. Final Review of the judges will be conducted after each day of competition to select up to 12 semi-finalists on each day of competition.
5. Results of the Final Review will be announced at around 5 pm after each day of Quarter-finals competition.

Auditions Format 1. Auditions will be behind doors (no audience).
2. Judging panel of 3 consists of XYZ volunteers and past KSS finalists.

4. Every judge will give each contestant a score of 1 - 10.
5. Contestants with total score of 24 and above will gain immediate entry to our Quarter-Finals.
6. Otherwise, they will be on our waitlist.
7. Contestants chosen from the waitlist to enter the Quarter-Finals will be announced on the blog and via email 1 - 2 days after all the audition rounds are completed.

OBJECTIVES
Initiate youth-oriented activities to encourage participation and develop leadership. Provide a variety of activities in a safe environment where there can be opportunities for youth to express their talents. Train and provide appropriate guidance during their formative years.
HISTORY
Former MP for Alijunied GRC (Paya Lebar), Mdm Cynthia Phua was concerned for the neighbourhood and in 2005, invited Presbyterian Community Services to consider starting a youth centre in Hougang. Grace Jubilee Centre, with the support of Youth Executive Committee Menbers from Paya Lebar-kovan Communtiy Club, took up the task and the Centre opened on 7th October 2oo5.
