Kovan Superstar 2010 Finals
Date: 21 August 2010, Saturday
Time: 1 - 6 pm
Venue: Heartland Mall - Kovan
Competition Format:
1) 1st Segment: Present a slow song of your choice
2) 2nd Segment: Present a fast song of your choice
Judging Criteria
1) Singing Techniques - Pitching, Articulation, Voice Quality: 50%
2) Star Qualities - Stage Presence, Entertainment Value, Dressing: 40%
3) Popularity - Based on CD Sales Vote on the Final Day itself: 10%
*Note:
a) Choosing a song that fails to match the segment criteria will be subjected to points deduction. Eg. Fails to sing a fast song in the 2nd segment: Fast Song Segment
b) Unclear MMOs used will also be subjected to points deduction.
Score Allocation:
1) 1st Segment: 50 pts (Awarded by judges)
2) 2nd Segment: 50 pts (Awarded by Judges)
Total scores from 1st and 2nd segments will be converted to be upon 90 pts.
3) CD Sales Vote: % of CD sales vote will be converted to be upon 10 pts.
CD Sales Vote
Every CD bought by any supporter or audience will give him/her a chance to cast a vote for any of the 12 finalists.
Votes can only be cast with 1 CD bought.
Total votes for each finalist will be counted after the cut-off voting time.
Percentage of votes of each finalist will be converted into 10% of his/her Final score.
The finalist with the highest vote will win "The Most Popular Award" that comes with a XYZ plaque and $50 worth of Heartland Mall Shopping Voucher.
Sales proceeds from the voting will be channeled into the Event Funds of Xtreme Youth Zone Inc. to benefit more youths of our community in future events and activities.
So Finalists, do encourage your supporters to give thir support.

Activities For Kovan Superstar 2010 Coming Up!
As a custom to Kovan Superstar singing competition yearly, finalists selected will go through a series of activities to further expose them to various aspects of music production.
Here are the activities coming up:
1) Song Recording Session
Date & Time: 2nd July 2010, Friday (7 - 10 pm)
Venue: Sonic Studio
Address: 336B, King George's Ave., King George's Building, Singapore 208572
Directions: Directions: Approx. 5 minutes walk from Lavender MRT(Exit B), King George's Building is situated adjacent to Jalan Besar Stadium and opposite Hotel 81 Lavender
2) Kovan Superstar 2010 Photoshoot
Date & Time: 4 July 2010, Sun (3 - 6 pm)
Venue: Studiospace
Address: 255B Geylang Road S(389312)
(4th Floor, Door besides M5 Collection)
The studio is along Geylang road towards city direction between Geylang Lor 11 and Lor 13.
Please meet at the coffee shop at 2.50 pm beside the studio first.
Dress Code: Normal Competition Outfit ( not too bright colours)
Note:
1) Ladies, please come with own make-up and hairstyling.
2) Gentlemen, please come with own hairstyling. Some make-up can be put on as deemed fit.
3) Only simple make-up touching up will be available on shooting day.
4) Please be punctual as we will be taking a group shot first.
5) Please prepare a simple introduction of yourself to be filmed on the photoshoot day. Introduction may be played during the finals.
6) Introduction can be something like:
" Hi everyone, my name is XXX, I'm 20 (eg.) this year...curently doing XXXX.... I like music because XXXX... Joining this competition allows me to XXXXX. Really happy to be in the finals and i'll show my very best.. Do give me your support..."
This is only an example. U can be creative in your own intro. Think about it.

After grueling rounds of competition and exciting rounds of PK, 12 Finalists were selected to compete in the Finals on 21 August 2010 in Heartland Mall.

Kovan Superstar 2010 Semi-Finals

Date: 19 June 2010 (Sat)
Time: 1 - 6 pm
Venue: Heartland Mall Lv 1
Competition Format
1. Each contestant will present a full song of their choice.
2. Points will be given by the judges after the song
3. Top 6 scoring contestants will gain direct entry into the Finals (21 Aug)
4. Bottom 6 scoring contestants will be eliminated.
5. The middle 12 scoring contestants will have to go through a PK process through which we will select the remaining 6 finalists.
PK Format
1. Our representative will draw lots and select the 1st contestant and he/she will then draw his/her opponent.
2. After which they will compete and the winner will automatically advance to the finals.
3. This will repeat itself till all the 6 remaining finalists are selected.
4. Song selected for PK can be any part of a song NOT more than 2 mins.
Judging Criteria
1. Singing Techniques (pitching, articulation, song presentation)
2. “Star” Qualities (voice quality, stage presence, entertainment value, dressing)

Please prepare 2 MMOs:

Kovan Superstar 2010 Top 24 Grooming Workshop
Our Top 24 contestants for Kovan Superstar 2010 Semi-Finals was selected out of 80 contestants.
In an effort to provide some development for the contestants, the organiser had engaged an experienced trainer for all semi-finalists.
*Note: Attendance is compulasory for all Sem-finalists. Failure to attend will result to immediate disqualification.
